Since 1998, Elisa and Colin Bertuch have planted 900 olive trees at Mt Buffalo Olives which produce award winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil, table olives, condiments and skincare products. Karoonda Olive Grove Retreat completes the enterprise.
Elisa and Colin Bertuch began creating their farm on the foothills of Mount Buffalo in 1998. With the help of a bulldozer, Colin carved out 22 terraces on a north facing ridge to create the olive grove.
To ensure a complex blend of premium quality, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 900 trees, of ten different varieties were planted and Mt Buffalo Olives was born.
The olives are hand harvested in May by a dedicated contingent of friends and family. They are pressed locally and the multi-award winning extra virgin olive oil is bottled on the farm and available at the farm gate and selected local outlets.
Complementing the olive grove is Karoonda Olive Grove Retreat, a stunning cottage, with glorious views of the Ovens Valley and Victorian Alps, perfect for a romantic escape, special occasion or weekend away.
Our farm gate is open Friday to Monday, public holidays and 7 days a week in the school holidays for tastings and sales. The cottage is available and can be booked online at www.mtbuffaloolives.com.au
